The La Ravoire campsite at Lake Annecy in South East of France with views of the Alps is a lovely small friendly 4 star campsite of only 122 pitches which is a ten minute walk from the popular Lake Annecy in the Rhone-Alps of South Eastern France. This is one of our favourite areas for camping in France.
Lake Annecy is a lovely place to swim during the summer and is popular for watersports and boat trips on the lake. It also has many pretty beaches. There is also a popular 36km cycle path along the side of the lake which can be accessed near the campsite.
The campsite is only 19 kms from the lovely old historic town of Annecy at the Northern end of the lake and is 5kms from the village of Doussard at the southern end of the Lake.
Annecy is known as the "Venice of Savoy" for its beautiful criss-crossing of canals. Other things in the area include the impressive river gorge "Gorges du Fier" as well as watersports and there are also a number of golf courses nearby and a theme park a little more than an hours drive away.
The cycle track follows the left bank of the lake over 36 kilometres. At the edge of the water, it wanders along between lake, mountains and meadows. The route follows an old railway line so is relatively flat and hence a fairly gentle cycle.
The route goes between Annecy and Ugine via the attractive villages of Sevrier, Saint-Jorioz, Duingt and Doussard. The track has a direct access to the Marquisats free beach or to both beaches at Sevrier.
Nature lovers will enjoy the Sentier des Roselières, between Saint Jorioz and Duingt which is one of the rare paths which follow the lake very closely.
If you are going to drive then here are the distances from the Channel Ports :
